Who are Big Team?

Big Team is a community dedicated to expanding access and creating options for individuals who face barriers within the live events industry. We achieve this through community engagement, data-driven projects, equity provision, connection-building opportunities, and sustained, long-term engagement.

Originally established in 2019 by Team Love Productions as a proactive response to the lack of representation within their own workforce and the festival industry as a whole, Big Team has now grown and developed into its own entity, and is driven by members of the communities that it serves.

Team Members

  • Jazpa Taylor - Outreach Lead

Jazpa was one of the first Big Teamers in 2021, connecting on a festival tour and later joining the team to help create pathways into the industry.  His passion lies in finding new and undiscovered talent in Bristol. You can catch him hosting outreach sessions around the city, and helping inform young people about different careers available within the live event sector. Jazpa also has a background in performing arts and is currently working on the delivery of projects exploring the synergy and transferable skills between festival and theatre spaces.

  • Lucy Caswell - Network Lead

Lucy joined Big Team in 2021 as a placement, where she created and delivered the organisation’s first networking event series. With a longstanding passion for music and social impact, and experience across youth organisations and community radio, the placement marked her entry into the festival industry. Lucy now focuses on expanding opportunities, building meaningful connections, and driving engagement with the network, industry partners and mentors. She also leads on marketing and content, alongside delivering Big Team’s Creative Development projects.

  • Javeon McCarthy - Support & Development Lead

Javeon leads on the Festival Pathways strand of Big Team’s work, collaborating closely with our cohort of festival partners to identify employment opportunities and develop toolkits and resources that can be shared across the sector. His long-term goal is to help create more inclusive workplaces within live events. From a mentorship perspective, he supports Big Team participants with advice, guidance, and on-site support. An accomplished musician in his own right, and with a background as a Youth Worker, Javeon brings a first-hand understanding of the music and events industry. This combination of lived experience and professional insight enables him to offer steady, practical advice to those starting out in their careers.

  • Issy Chambers - Network Coordinator

Issy is a Bristol-based creative, producer and facilitator passionate about making spaces more equitable, inclusive and representative. With experience producing music and corporate videos, community building, and event production, Issy now works across all Big Team’s projects.

Saffron - Laura Lewis-Paul

“Having Big Team as allies in the music industry is essential as we're able to really see tangible change.

Our placements partnership have given our community of women, non binary and trans people opportunities in Live Sound Engineering that they may not have been able to access previously.

Building trust with other companies in the industry means we're consciously and responsibly providing meaningful opportunities that further career development.”

Our Advisory Board

The Advisory Board advises, guides, and supports the development of Big Team and its projects during the four annual meetings. By bringing external perspectives to decision-making and planning, board members help ensure that Big Team’s projects are purposeful, impactful, and aligned with broader city activity and engagement.

As Big Team enters its next phase of organisational development, we have recruited six new members to join the Advisory Board in 2026, who will work with Big Team over a 2-year term.

We would like to thank our previous board members for their invaluable support: Ngaio Anyia (Chair of Big Team Board), Darren Alexander (representing Aspiration Creation Elevation), Rhona Iris & Kaden Gardener (via the Rising Arts Agency On Board scheme), and Kofo Ajala.
